Plant of the Week -Primrose

“Daisies smell-less, yet most quaint, / And sweet thyme true, /Primrose, first born child of Ver, / Merry Spring-time's harbinger.” Francis Beaumont

What other flower does remind us of spring so much as the primrose? From the aucaulis types with wide flat faces, to whimsical lollipop-shaped drumstick primroses, to the hardy cowslip and the late blooming, moisture-loving candelabra primrose, this broad family of dainty bloomers has something for everyone. Most thrive in partial shade, with adequate moisture.
