Native spreading multi-stemmed shrub with unusual palmate foliage and bottle brush flowers that bloom June-July. Forms mass of uniform shape with unique foliage and flower. Bottlebrush Buckeye has good erosion control and can handle wetter soils making it a good Zone 3 rain garden option. Also makes for a stunning specimen, and it works well in shrub borders or woodland areas.
Part shade - full shade. Average, rich, evenly moist, well-draining soils. Intolerant of dry soil. Zone 4-8.
Attracts pollinators including butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant. Erosion control, tolerates wet soils.
Will sucker if allowed.
Pruning - generally not necessary.
