A most unusual clematis, this vine produces large violet-blue flowers that feature pink-blue-violet outer petals and long inner pale purple petals that appear like an exploding star! Can be trained to climb on walls or trellises, or can sprawl as a ground cover.
Full sun - part shade. Average, moist, well-draining soil. Zone 4-9.
Attracts pollinators including butterflies and hummingbirds, deer and rabbit resistant.
Blooms on old and new wood - avoid pruning. If pruned to ground, next seasons flowering will be reduced and/or delayed.
Apply mulch at root zone to keep soil cool and moist.
