This is a common bearded iris. It has fans of broad pointed leaves that grow from heavy rhizomes. It features spikes with large 6 part flowers. Bearded Iris' are though and easy to grow. They do best in full sun and like rich, moist soil during spring growth, but drier conditions during the summer. Leave about half of the rhizome exposed when planting, buried rhizomes will die. Zone 4-9. Plant with baby's breath, daylilies, junipers beard, artemesias, peonies, lupines, campanulas, and salvias.
