Small white flowers dot this multi-stemmed large shrub/small tree in April and purple edible berries fruit in June. Bold display of reds, oranges, gold foliage in fall. Amelanchier x grandiflora is a hybrid cross between two species of North American serviceberry, namely, A.arborea (downy serviceberry) and A. Laevis (Allegheny serviceberry. Edible berries are good for jams, jellies & pies. Great option of rain gardens and woodland margins.
Full sun - part shade. Average, moist- wetter, well-draining soil. Zone 4-9.
Attracts pollinators including birds who favor the fruit.
Note: Root suckers are common and if not removed, will result in a shrubby growth habit.
