Fans of broad, flat, pointed leaves grow from thick rhizomes that creep along the soil surface. Flower stalks emerge bearing large buds that open to big papery irises with bearded falls. Blooms in June, will re-bloom in august and September. Intense, deep, purple is paired with near white to give this flower striking contrast. Full sun in average to dry, well drained soil that does not remain too wet in winter. Zone 3-8.
