Easy, long-lived, exceptionally hardy. Foliage is maroon tinted as shoots first appear in spring then unfold into bushy rounded mounds of green foliage with large showy very fragrant flowers. Moist, loamy, humus rich soil in full sun or light shade. Mulch and feed with well-rotted manure when leaf growth starts. Avoid disturbing roots.  Zone 3-8. Deer and rabbit resistant.
