This low, spreading shrub boasts fire-engine red new leaves followed by small, fragrant flowers in mid-late spring. The leaves turn a shiny green in summer and come fall, foliage is set ablaze with deep hues of burgundy-red. Good for woodland gardens, mixed boarders, as a low hedge, or even in containers.
Attracts pollinators
Part shade. Average, acidic, humusy, moist-wetter, well-draining soil. Zone 6-9.
Maintains a compact, neat shape without pruning.
