Japanese mountain hydrangeas are beautiful shrubs for the shady garden with lace cap flowers. Their color is dependent on soil pH. The more acidic the soil, the more blue the flower color. Bloom on both old and new wood for an extended bloom season. Strong burgundy stems hold up well as cut flowers. Purple-red fall color. Attracts pollinators.
