Cladrastis Kentukea American Yellowwood

Yellowwood is a unique native deciduous tree to add to the meadow, woodland, or use as a shade tree. It features showy blooms every few years, pleasant yellow fall foliage, and smooth gray bark for winter interest. Slow growing. Attracts pollinators with its high quality pollen. 

Has a deep taproot system which makes this tree ideal for planting shade loving shrubs and perennials underneath. In a woodland setting its habit with be vase shaped and upright, whereas in an open sunny area it will have a broad rounded habit. Good choice for native gardens. Prune out weak branch forks in summer. Is not bothered by most insects and diseases.

Blooms in April- May with 12 inch long white panicles of fragrant flowers. Generally only blooms every 2 or 3 years
