This clump forming, evergreen perennial sports shiny, dark purple almost black rippled foliage. A profusion of dainty, pink flowers cover the plant in early to late summer.
Moist but well drained humus rich soil in full sun or part shade. Divide clumps every 3 years and remove oldest woody portions of the crowns. Parents are North American natives. Zone 4-8.
Invaluable plants for rockeries, front of borders, and as a groundcover under trees and shrubs. Most effective when planted in large groups.
