'Contorta' aka Harry Lauder's Walking Stick is a unique accent tree. In spring, yellow catkins develop with crumpled looking leaves. Copper colored nuts (known as cobnuts) appear in summer. Fall bring some yellow-organ coloring to the leaves but not much. However, in winter, you get a unique display of the twisted and 'contorted' branches.
