'Brandywine' is a more compact native Viburnum cultivar of a rounded, multi-stemmed, upright-spreading form. In late spring/early summer, aromatic white flat-topped flowers bloom. Come late summer/early fall, those flowers have become beautiful displays of pink and blue berries so pretty you want to eat them, and you can! (Though they are quite acidic!). But 'Brandywine' doesn't stop there, with autumn's arrival comes the emergence of dark reddish-purple foliage. NOTE: Best cross pollination and fruit display come when this Viburnum is a planted with another selection like 'Winterthur' to cross-pollinate. 'Brandywine' looks stunning in shrub boarders, foundations, and hedges. Because it tolerate wet soils, consider this Viburnum for zone 1 of rain gardens where water stands for a period of time, or this shrub can be planted along bodies of water.

Full sun to part sun. Average, consistently moist- wet, well-draining soil. Zone 5-9.

Attracts pollinators, deer resistant.

Blooms on old wood - if desired, prune immediately after flowering at the expense of fruit.
