Astilbe Ice Cream

Fluffy spikes of delicate, pale pink on large upright plumes along with glossy dark green foliage.   The “perfect” Ice Cream for a cool, shady garden. Blooms mid to late summer. Rich, evenly moist, acid soil in full to partial shade. Cannot endure drought. Native to Asia. Zone 3-8. Divide clumps every 3 or 4 years. Cut back to the ground in late fall. Plant in groups and drifts of color in shady borders, woodland edge, and beside ponds and streams. Bloom times of astilbes vary widely, so you can have a continuous bloom of astilbes all summer. Deer and rabbit resistant.
