Cynara Cardoon

Large, elegant, arching plant with gray-green, thistle-like leaves, growing up to 3 feet. Leaves and flowers are edible.  Plant sends up multiple large, thistle flower heads. Warm, sunny site in well drained, fertile soil. Tolerant of heavy clay soil. Native to the western United States. A stately plant for a large sunny border. A bold silvery thistle for contrast and architectural presence in the back of the garden.
