Clusters of tiny, pea-like flowers bloom for 2-3 weeks in early spring before foliage emerges. Heart-shaped leaves with pointed tips mature to a dull, dark blue-green in summer turning yellow in fall. Great for use as a specimen, or can also work in lawns, borders, woodland margins, or naturalized settings. Cut branches can be forced indoors.

Full sun - part shade. Average, consistently moist, well-draining. Zone 4-9.

Attracts pollinators including bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds.
