As creamy as a Japanese Painted Fern can get. Fronds have a light green edge and a white center. It is adaptable, easy to grow and reliable. Deciduous. It will gradually spread to form an elegant ground cover. It is best in filtered shade - direct sun will burn the foliage. Zone 4-9. Ferns prefer soils high in organic matter that are well-drained but do not dry out. Easy care ground cover. Plant in woodland garden or shady borders with woodland phlox, jack-in-pulpit, hostas, tiarella, and toadlily. Drought tolerant. Ferns are deer resistant.
