Hosta Barbara Ann

This medium selection has thick, corrugated, blue-green leaves with broad, creamy margins that lighten to white as it matures.  Sport of H. sieboldiana ‘Elegans’.    Giant, slug resistant hosta. Long lived, easy to grow plants in filtered sunlight to full shade. Grows best in rich, moist soil but tolerant of dry shade. Zone 3-9b. The mainstays of the shade garden.  Mixed mass plantings of hosta can create an interesting groundcover of shapes and colors. Hostas emerge late in spring so interplant with spring bulbs and ephemerals. Plant with ferns, tricyrtis, helleborus, pulmonaria, woodland phlox, and aster diviratica.
