Running rootstock sends up erect square stems with toothed, aromatic leaves, and whorled clusters of flowers. The most mildew resistant red. A vigorous plant. Full sun to part shade in moisture retentive soil. Zone 4-8. Combine in borders with yarrow, balloon flowers, garden phlox, cranesbill geraniums, and lillies. Combine in wild garden with boneset, hibiscus, joe-pye-weed, and queen-of-the-prairie.
