Excellent low grower for rock gardens, with its compact grey-green foliage and bright orange tubular flower. Hummingbirds love it- also good in pots. California native. Full sun to part shade in moisture retentive soil. Zone 3-8. Combine in borders with yarrow, balloon flowers, garden phlox, cranesbill geraniums, and lilies. Combine in wild garden with boneset, hibiscus, joe-pye-weed, and queen-of-the-prairie.
