Hardy primrose for borders or spring containers . European species with rounded, wrinkled, hairy leaves and one sided clusters of tubular blooms on stiff stems. Will grow in a boggy site. Thrives in part shade or full sun in moist, humus rich soil. Plant in clumps and drifts with spring bulbs such as tulips, snowdrops, and daffodils. Plant in shady rocky areas, and in containers for spring. Naturalizes well.
