Combination of early large cobalt blue blooms and attractive foliage all season makes this a popular shade groundcover or specimen plant. Brightly silver spotted dark green leaves stay fresh all summer. Easy to grow in evenly moist, humus rich soil in partial to full shade. Plants are drought tolerant once established but may go dormant early if it gets too dry. Lovely spring flowers emerge with spring bulbs and are followed by fancy foliage for a tough summer shade groundcover. Plant under trees and shrubs or along a shady path with hellebores, bleeding hearts, iris cristata, and columbine.
Zone 4-9.
