A shrubby plant that is in the mint family. They have strong spikes of flowers on square stems. They boast a very heavy bud count and a long bloom time. Plant in well drained, sandy or loamy soil that is in full sun. Salvia are very drought tolerant and if they get too wet they will become floppy. Cut to the ground in early spring. Plant in herb gardens or in rock gardens with Yucca, Yarrows, Sedums, Echinacea, Coreopsis, and grasses.
