Plant forms large rosette-like clumps of distinctive, heavily textured, glossy green foliage, then sends stiff upright spikes of rosy-purple flowers. Plant in full sun in ordinary well drained soil. Good middle of the sunny border plant with daisies, coreopsis, yarrow, balloon flowers, oenothera, pervoskia, and heliopsis.
