A tall plant with strong, nearly black stems and contrasting green lacy foliage that is divided into rounded leaflets. Tall stalks bear large, flat, fluffy lavender flower heads. Plant in rich, moist, but well drained soil in partial shade. Clumps may be divided every 3 to 4 years if desired. Cut back to the ground in late autumn. Great specimen plant in the landscape, both flowers and foliage are beautiful and bold. Excellent plant for back of border, ponds edge, or woods edge.
