Mixing and abundance of organic matter into the soil when planting and then mulching over the years keeps hostas looking their best. Water during periods of drought and protect from slugs. The mainstays of the shade garden. To create a naturalized look plant in mass plantings of mixed colors and shapes under trees. Use as specimens or accents in a shaded border. Will thrive in the darkest recesses between buildings, under eaves, or in narrow passages. Plant smaller hostas in containers and shady rockeries.
