Peony Lactiflora Nippon Beauty

Long lived, hardy, herbaceous, bush like perennial with divided leaves that are maroon in spring and turn green. Plants bear high fragrant flowers that are a good summer cut flower. Deep red petals for a cup shape around a center illuminated by red staminodes edged in gold. The flowers give off a beautiful fragrance. Not particular about soil.  Grow in full sun or light shade for best flower production. Mulch to keep roots cool and moist. Do not over fertilize, leaf spots can be a problem if plants have too much nitrogen. Deer resistant.
