'Ginny Gee' a semi-dwarf rhododendron, has deep green evergreen foliage making it an attractive feature in your landscape year round. The swathes of large trusses bloom white and pink edged flowers, sometimes becoming more or less pigmented as they remain open from April to May. Great in beds, boarders, or containers.
Rabbit resistant, attracts pollinators.
Part shade. Acidic, rich, humusy, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Protect from strong winds. Zone 6-8.
Consider planting in raised bed if planting in heavy clay soil.
Apply mulch to protect shallow root system as well as maintain soil moisture and stabilize soil temperatures.
To lower pH add an acidifier such as sulfur of iron sulfate, to increase pH add limestone or lime to soil.
Remove spent blooms immediately after flowering.
