Cultivated from the native Eastern Redbud, this tree produces deep pink buds that bloom lavender-pink flowers along the stems and trunk. The name 'Black Pearls' comes from the dramatic, purple/burgundy foliage which turns shades of golden-yellow in fall. Epic as a specimen or when planted in groups. Works well in the landscape, borders, woodland margins, or in naturalized settings. Cut branches can also be forced indoors.
Full sun - part shade. Average, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Zone 5-9.
Attracts pollinators including bees, butterflies, and birds. Clay soil and Black Walnut tolerant.
