Azalea Encore Autumn Carnation

This naturally compact and rounded Azalea offers deep green foliage that gains purple hues in fall and winter. ‘Encore’ Series Azaleas have a strong flowering in spring, followed by sporadic blooms into fall. 'Autumn Carnation' works well in containers, and also looks great as a specimen, in the shrub border, or as a hedge. 

Part shade. Acidic (5-5.5 pH), consistently moist, well-draining soil. Zone 6-10.

Attracts pollinators including butterflies. 

Consider planting in raised beds if planting in clay soil. 

Apply mulch to protect roots by maintaining soil moisture and temperature. 

To lower soil acidity, apply sulfur or iron sulfate. To increase soil acidity, apply limestone or lime.

Blooms on old wood - prune immediately after flowering. Remove spent blooms as practical.
