Iris Germanica Black Swan

Fans of broad, flat, pointed leaves grow from thick rhizomes that creep along the soil surface. Flower stalks emerge bearing large buds that open to big papery irises with bearded falls. Blooms from late spring to early summer. This Iris features dark, lightly ruffled flowers with deep purple standards and dark purple, almost black, falls. Plant in full sun in average to dry, well drained soil that does not remain too wet in winter. Deer and rabbit resistant. Zone 3-9.
