This summer-flowering shrub produces small purple-pink flowers in tiny clusters along the stem, soon to become brilliant purple fall berries. Native to the southeastern US. Great in borders, or as a specimen.

Full sun- part shade. Any moist, well-draining soil. Zone 6-12.

Drought tolerant once established, clay soil tolerant, attracts pollinators.

This shrub may experience some die back in harsh winters but should re-sprout from the base and fruit production shouldn’t be impacted. Blooms on new wood - prune in winter to encourage bushier growth. Plants can be cut back to 1' from ground or 2' less than desired height. Death and damage can be removed in spring.
