Extremely hardy and pest-resistant plants. Stout and sturdy with large, slightly hairy, dentate, golden-green and yellow variegated foliage. Flowers in early summer with impressive plumes. Any solid green stems should be removed. Large plumes of white flowers. Partial shade in moist soil. Will tolerate soggy soil. Wonderful showy plants for the back of the shady border, woods edge, or pond side. Plant with caltha, Iris pseudacorus, ligularia, monarda, lobelia, and trollius.
