Extremely large, fragrant glossy green leaves. Deep maroon flowers bloom through late spring and summer are also sweet smelling. Slightly taller than wide, the form of this shrub is irregular and open.
Full sun- part shade. Average, moist, well-draining soil. Zone 5-8.
If planted in full sun, soil should remain consistently moist.
Deer resistant, attracts pollinators.
Blooms on old wood - prune immediately after flowering to maintain shape or increase compactness.
If naturalization is not desire, remove suckers.
