A striking winter bloomer that over the years becomes a large, profusely flowering clump. Cup shaped flowers appear well above its deciduous leathery foliage with a hint of silver. Wonβt be bothered by deer. Shade to partial shade in alkaline soil. Do not fertilize in summer during their resting period, mulch and fertilize in fall for best bud count in spring. Zone 3-9. Plant in shady borders or light woodlands. Plant with ferns, hosta, tiarella, lungwort, cyclamen, and sweet woodruff.
