Selected from seedlings of A. tabernamontana. Tough plant with a compact mound of green, lance-shaped leaves that turn brilliant yellow in fall. Clusters of star-shaped blue blooms in spring. Ordinary garden soil in part shade or full sun. Amsonia are native to the Eastern US. Woods edge plant , or good backdrop for smaller plants with its fine foliage contrast. Plant with hosta, digitalis, chelone, geranium, hesperis, asters, and woodland phlox.
