Native plant in Eastern U.S. Clumps of ridged upright stems with thick leathery foliage. Foliage turns bright yellow in fall. Stems are topped with clusters of star shaped blooms. Full sun or part shade in average to moist soil. Does well in rocky or heavy soils. Zone 4-9. Fine foliage is good contrast for bolder foliage of sedum's, and Iris. Shear plants by 1/3 after blooming so plant retains its rounded shape. Good for a rain garden.
