Astilbe Burgundy Red

Rugged but elegant shade-loving plant with fern-like, lacy, glossy, dark green foliage and deep red feathery plumes that are held well above the foliage clumps. Plumes are long lasting and hold their color well. Rich, evenly moist, acid soil in partial shade. Cannot endure drought. Plant in groups and drifts of color in shady borders, woodland edge, and beside ponds and streams. Bloom times of astilbes vary widely, so you can have a continuous bloom of astilbes all summer. Plant with ferns, hosta, foxglove, turtleheads, ligularia, thalictrum and anemone. Tolerates black walnut trees. Deer and Rabbit Resistant.
