A compact and bushy plant with stiff, milky stems and deep purplish black foliage. Red stems bear bright lime green flowering bracts in spring. Ordinary, well drained soil in light shade to full sun. Deer will not eat this plant.Great container plant for their unique flower heads and textural foliage. Zone 6-9. Plant in well drained sunny border with poppies, sedum, amsonia, geraniums, and phlomis.
