This is a rhizomatous, evergreen fern with tongue shaped bright green fronds measuring 12-18 inches long.  Likes Part shade to full shade.   This fern is evergreen, best grown in medium moisture with well-drained, alkaline to slightly acidic soil.    It will enjoy humusy, limestone soils.   It does need  especially well-drained soil to prevent root rot.    Zone 5 to 9. Use to naturalize areas with spring woodland bulbs, bleeding hearts, actaea, epimedium, tiarella, columbine, and uvularia. Plant in shady borders or rock gardens. Tolerates:  Rabbit and Heavy Shade
