Fern Athyrium Lady In Red Fern

Lady fern with dark green fronds and vibrant burgandy stems. Burgandy color takes 2-3 years to develop. Rhizome is short-creeping, resulting in a diffuse crown of fronds. Native to rich, moist, acid woodland soil, in part to full shade. Groundcover plant for shady or woodland areas. Naturalize around shady shrubs and rocky areas. Ferny foliage contrasts well with hosta, asarum, and helleborus.  In shady border, pair with purple heuchera to really help the dark stem color to stand out.
