Small statured woodland species that forms erect, spreading clumps of glossy, nearly evergreen, broad lance shaped leaves. Profuse bloom in spring that is very fragrant. Plant in humusy, moist to average well-drained soil that has dappled sunlight. Is drought tolerant. Good for a ground cover. Excellent ground cover for shaded situations, and woodland edge. Plant with spring bulbs, hostas, ferns, and hellebores and tiarellas.
