Evergreen groundcover with glossy dark green leaves. Needs another cultivar as a pollinator to fruit.  Balsgard has the largest berries out of the different cultivars and produces high yields. They have a tart, slightly sweet flavor good for baking Grow as a groundcover among other acidic soil loving plants such as azaleas, blueberries, rhododendrons or pines. Very cold hardy but they may need protection from drying winter winds if there is no snow cover.

Blooms on old wood, pruning is unnecessary. Blooms in Spring to Mid-Summer. Small pinkish bell shaped flowers.

Zones 2-8
