Rugged but elegant shade loving plant with fern like, lacy, green foliage and bright colorful feathery plumes held well above the foliage clumps.
Rich, evenly moist, acid soil in partial shade. Cannot endure drought.
Plant in groups and drifts of color in shady borders, woodland edge, and beside ponds and streams. Bloom times of astilbes vary widely, so you can have a continuous bloom of astilbes all summer. Plant with ferns, hosta, foxglove, turtleheads, ligularia, thalictrum an anemone.
