North American native that does well in shady spots. Gray and gold variegation distinguish this cultivar. Clump-forming cool season grass. Flower panicles give winter interest. Does well in average, well-drained soil in part shade. Will tolerate more shade and moisture than Miscanthus, Pennisetums, and Panicums. Will also tolerate drought. Native over most of the US. Zones 4-9. Great massed in woodland gardens or naturalized areas. Also good specimen with other shade loving plants like Heuchera, hostas, ferns, campanulas, and woods asters. Cut foliage to the ground in late winter. Tolerates Black Walnut, Air Pollution. Bird friendly. North American Native Selection.
