Native prairie grass. Sturdy selection with compact, strong blades. Threads of burgundy through blue-green foliage. Color most intense in the fall. Native warm season grass for poor dry soil. Loves full sun and will tolerate either acid or alkaline soil. Do not over feed or water. Native over most of the US. Zone 3-8. Best used in mass or as part of a meadow planting. Also a showy specimen in the dry garden.
