These plants will thrive in a sunny border. Full sun in average to dry, well drained soil that does not remain too wet in winter. Zone 3-8. Beard iris’s are low-maintenance, grow on tall sword-shaped leaves. Roots are called rhizomes. Keep the top of the rhizome slightly above the ground level. Plant in sunny border for vertical accent with lychnis, baptisia, nepeta, shasta daisy, poppies, coreopsis, and salvia.
