Dark green leaves that become burgundy in spring make the deep pink blooms stand out even more. Blooming first in late spring/ early summer on old wood, followed by new wood blooms in late summer. Works well anywhere in the landscape such as in front of borders, at woods edge, in perennial beds, or under trees. Plus, makes great cut flowers, both dried and fresh.
Attracts pollinators.
Part sun- part shade. Average, moist, well-draining. Zone 4-9. Protect from winter winds.
Shrub may have some winter die back, remove dead/damaged branches early spring.
