This northeastern native is ready to get the job done; whether that be filling in that wet spot in your landscape or producing the biggest, brightest golden fruit around! In early spring, small white flowers bloom, and come fall, golden berries cloak the branches of this shrub leaving your space glowing with winter radiance. She’s an excellent rain garden, boggy soil, wetland or riparian choice. Plus, her berries provide a fantastic food source for critters.
Berry Heavy Gold is a female cultivar that needs ‘Mr. Poppins’ for pollination. One pollinator will handle several adjacent yards and a dozen or so females.
Full sun- part sun. Any soil that is moist- wet. Zones 3-9.
Best to avoid pruning except for cutting whole old branches that no longer produce.
