When planted with the male, ‘Mr. Poppins,’ this dwarf native multi-stemmed deciduous shrub produces a heavier berry set than similar cultivators such as ‘Red Sprite’. An excellent rain garden, boggy soil, wetland or riparian choice. Plus, she serves as excellent wildlife food source. Use as a specimen or in groups.
One ‘Mr. Poppins’ will pollinate 5-7 females; plant within 50’ of one another to assure good pollination.
Attracts pollinators, deer resistant, tolerates boggy conditions.
Full sun - part sun. Any soil that is moist-wet even boggy. Zone 3-9.
Pruning generally weakens plant’s flower and fruit production. However, old branches can be removed in early spring if they are no longer producing vigorous growth.
